Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely morning, afternoon, or evening! This past month was so full of life and celebration, yet also grief and emotion; celebrating birthdays, a baptism, as well as a funeral for someone I knew and loved. As I continue to somehow always be busy, I have gone back and forth with whether I should continue these monthly recaps (seeing how they’ve all been weeks late). I will finish out the year, but most likely pick up my Wednesday Whatevers again, and perhaps, do occasional life updates! Regardless of how things pan out, thank you for reading and checking out my blog!

Adventures

Sister’s Day Out

My three sisters and I went out to see two movies at a theater, Hadestown and The Odyssey. Hadestown is actually a musical, but they filmed the stage production into something called a “proshot” (the same as been done with Hamilton and Newsies on Disney+). That’s a musical I’ve been wanting to see for a while was so happy to see it with the original Broadway cast and on a big screen! As for The Odyssey, I grew up rather interested in Greek/Roman mythology (thank you, Rick Riordan) and was pretty excited for this one, too! However, it did not quite match up to my expectations. Between the movies, we went to Costco’s cafeteria for lunch. My older sister, Emma, needed to buy something in the store area, so we all traveled with her, found rotisserie chickens for $5, and ended up buying that for lunch! Now, my youngest sister still ordered chicken tenders, and we got some drinks, but we dug into our whole chicken at the cafe tables! It was a pretty great day!

A Baptism & A Funeral

My newest nephew was baptized toward the beginning of the month, and my mom had her usual Sunday supper, but with even more people and food AND we had a mini “sprinkle” since my sister needed some more boy clothes. It was a lovely time! However, at the end of the week, my brother’s-in-law grandmother passed into the arms of Jesus. It was sudden, and I even felt rather emotional, given that I had spent quite some time with that grandmother when hanging out with my sister. My brother’s-in-law family has been hit with quite a few deaths this past year, so to any of my readers who pray, I ask, for their sake, for prayers for comfort, peace, and joy in this rough and unfamiliar time.

A Picnic & A Festival

My church had their annual picnic at a farm after not having it for two years! I played a fun game of cornhole with my husband and against my dad and younger brother, my youngest brother gave me a chest bump, which knocked both of us to the ground, I got to hold my nephew a bunch, eat some good food, and take part in a bit of hymn singing! We also had the annual Bluegrass Festival that my family has been attended for years and years. My husband and I brought some breakfast sandwiches with us, looked around at the booths, played with my niece at the kid’s station, and sat to listen to some music… sort of; my niece was a little more interested in wandering around. But we ran into a couple and their dog. Their dog was pretty old and only had one eye! He was a cutie, and we even got to feed him some treats!

Birthdays

My husband and our youngest nephew on his side, have birthdays only three days apart! The day before my husband’s birthday, we got together with his parents and his brother and his family to go bowling at a family-owned alley! We got some good pizza there (they have some really good gluten-free pizza), and bowled for quite some time; the little nephews were more into it than we expected! I needed bumpers, of course, and still didn’t win, but I always enjoy bowling!
