Funerals, Births, & Family // June 2026

,

Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely morning, afternoon, or evening! As you can tell by my late post, life has been so busy! Whether it’s house projects, birthdays, or summery outings, I’ve been doing so much recently. I hope to get back into my normal blogging schedule, but for now, I hope you’ve been enjoying my monthly updates and adventures!

Adventures

A Funeral

My family had a dear friend named, Mr. P. He was a professional juggler, traveled all over the world, and had countless stories and jokes. He died May 31st at nearly 102 years old! His funeral was hosted a few days later, followed by a luncheon at his home. I found myself struck with that feeling of “you never know what you have until it’s gone.” I wish I would have visited him more, and I wish my husband could have met him. It’s said that he was a believer, however, so I will see him again.

A Birth

My family has a new little member! My older sister had her second child earlier this month, and my husband and I have yet another nephew! Due to my doula training, I was able to be there for the birth itself; despite the long, overnight process, it was so worth it! He was born at 4:33 in the morning, happy and healthy along with my sister. In fact, he’s a month old now by the time I’m posting this!

Doula Progress

As I mentioned in my previous recaps, as well as my About Me page, I’m pursuing work as a birth and postpartum doula. I was able to attend two births, a training, and a home visit this past month, which have all helped in the hands-on realm of this work. I’m about two-thirds of the way done with my birth certification—which has been held up by some house projects—and cannot wait to be fully done!

Father’s Day

Just like Mother’s Day this past year, I officially have two folks to celebrate! We started the morning with my dad and family, exchanging cards and eating supper, then visited with my husband’s dad. We had some good ol’ steaks and baked potatoes for dinner, then caught some fireflies before opening presents and cards. It was a beautiful day with beautiful weather to celebrate these wonderful souls in my life!

I wish you continued luck and growth on your doula journey, it seems like you are already doing great! Pregnancy and birth are so scary to me, some women have a smooth pregnancy and birth, I have a strong feeling mine wouldn’t be the same.

Women helping women is what we are meant to do. I would want to give birth with the support of someone who understands my body past the textbook medical level. Doulas are so important!

I agree! It is a blessing to be a part of a beautiful and sacred thing such as birth! I didn’t even learn about doulas until about two years ago; they are so underrated!
