My Top Five Books From 2024… ish // Five Fall Favorites 2024

, , ,

Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely morning, afternoon, or evening! It’s the last day of this year’s Five Fall Favorites blog party! A big thank you to Kate of Once Upon An Ordinary for hosting this; be sure to check out her blog and the other participants’ final posts!

psst… unlike my previous posts where I gave some key words, I’ll be telling you a bit about why these are some of my favorite reads!

double psst… I’m not too good at reviewing pretty much anything, but I’ll do my best to describe how I feel/think about these books 😅

1 || Don’t Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table by Louie Giglio

I borrowed this first as an audiobook (from the app, hoopla; 10/10 would recommend) and probably finished it in a few days. It’s at the top of my list for books I want to buy to own! I love Louie’s friendly tone and penetrating wisdom, and especially the Scripture truths and comforts that run rampant throughout the entire book! This stirred up a newfound love in me for Psalm 23.

2 || Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson

I read this is a part of Brandon Sanderson’s kickstarter of four novels back in 2023. Some friends and I had a little book club for each novel, and this one was the first (and the only one I read…) I love the unique and genius worldbuilding that Sanderson creates in each of his books, and this one was specifically brilliant!

3 || The Power of Christian Contentment by Andrew M. Davis

A friend and I read this together in the latter half of 2022, and I’ve been meaning to read it again ever since! Instilling the mindset of contentment is one of my biggest desires since reading this book; Davis makes it that enviable and fascinating. It’s based on a series of sermons by puritan preacher, Jeremiah Burroughs, and Davis breaks down his Burroughs’ definition, practically and understandably!

4 || It’s Not Supposed to Be This Way by Lysa TerKeurst

I just love Lysa TerKeurst, in case you couldn’t tell by my previous five posts…
This is probably my favorite book by her. It’s personal, insightful, and hopeful; the perfect blend I needed when I was going through my major mental health battle. It took me a hot second to finish it since my motivation to read is awful, but I loved Lysa’s storytelling abilities and encouraging wisdom!

5 || The Well-Watered Woman by Gretchen Saffles

I’m gonna be honest: I haven’t finished this book, BUT I love it. I guess that can be a testament of how good this book is. I love the nature-inspired imagery that makes up this book as well as Saffles’ encouragement and teaching. I love being a woman and am ecstatic at the opportunity to grow in that womanhood, especially biblical womanhood, and Saffles’ does a wonderful job of instructing and inspiring women toward this!

Again, a big thank you to Kate of Once Upon An Ordinary for this fun event 🤎

Have you read any of these books? What are your top five books from this year? If you have any other thoughts feel free to leave them in the comments below! I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day or night. Keep on loving others and seeking the Lord!
