A Medieval Evening, A New Start, and A Fun Trip // June 2022

,

Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely morning, afternoon, or evening! This month was honestly a breath of fresh air. Between quitting my job and then just simply finding myself in a good mental spot, it was really relieving. My word for June 2022 would be “rejuvenating.”

P.S. sorry this is so late, I got back from a trip on the 2nd, was dead, remained dead on the 3rd, and so here I am, writing/publishing this on the 4th…

– rejuvenating –

DEFINITION (from “rejuvination“): the act of making something new and fresh, or restoring it to a former better state:

– Shot Archery For The First Time In Years –

My older sister has been into archery for a while, and she decided to host some friends and shoot archery in our backyard! I haven’t done that since freshman year in high school, and even then, it was once while on a school trip. It was pretty hard and hurt my shoulder a bit, but I ended up hitting the target once or twice, I believe!

– Quit My Job –

So, yeah. I quit my job of three years with no other job lined up, and it’s scary. I know I wanted to leave; however, no other places were hiring or accepting me if I applied. It soon got to the point where I was so mentally drained (and, therefore, physically, too), and I just quit. It was probably one of the rashest decisions I’ve ever made, and I’m not sure if it was even a good idea. I’m anxious about finding another job, and this point in my life is very confusing and scary, and I feel quite lost. Yet, I’ve been growing (bit by bit) in my spiritual life and have continued praying for strength and guidance to get through this bump in life. Romans 8:28 was a verse that a friend showed me when I spoke to him about my worries, and it’s been pretty helpful (when I remember it, lol). So, for right now, I’m just trying to keep my head down to pray and my heart open to trust.

– Went On A Mission Trip –

One of the main reasons this month was so relieving was the mission trip I went on at the end of it. Every summer, I go to Fairmont, West Virginia, with my church. We stay at a camp for a week and work on houses in the nearby towns. I’ll post about the entire trip in the coming weeks, but it’s just such a great time every year I go. It’s like a vacation to me, honestly. I get away from everything (one whole state away, in fact), and I also get away mentally. I rarely have cell service, there’s lots to do all the time, and just knowing that I’m on a special trip helps a ton, as well. This trip is also a great way to get away from myself. Putting myself last and working in the heat to help someone else, praying, worshipping, and delving into God’s word more than I ever do normally. This trip was a much-needed break from everything and a great way to end my month.

>> Movies and TV Shows Watched <<

Hollywood Stargirl (not finished)

  • teen, drama, romance
  • first-time watching
  • MY REVIEW: I… literally don’t even know what to say. My sister, Briana, and I had to stop watching it. It was just… bad, in my opinion. I don’t even know how to describe it or what to say. I just didn’t like it.

The Summer I Turned Pretty (episodes 1-3)

  • fiction, bildungsroman, book-to-show adaptation
  • first-time watching
  • MY REVIEW: I really enjoyed what I watched of this show and am gonna work on watching more. I wasn’t too fond of how they brought in more “adult” concepts like cursing, the alcohol/partying, but… whatever. I really thought everything was great. I hope to continue watching this show!

>> Books Read <<

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han (chapters 1-6)

  • fiction, bildungsroman, teen
  • first-time reading
  • MY REVIEW: I only read the first few chapters, and it was earlier in the month, so I don’t remember much too well, but I liked it. I’m trying to get into more Romance sort of books, and the new tv show trailers were really intriguing, so I thought I’d give it a try. I liked the idea of hanging out at a beach house in the summer with childhood friends (and, of course, some cute little friends-to-lovers potential). It was a pretty good book (at least, what I read…)
