Friendsgivingmas, New Friends, and Streaming // December 2021

,

Hello friends, I hope you’re having a lovely morning, afternoon, or evening! HAPPY NEW YEAR! I thought about doing a 2021 year recap, but then my next thought was “absolutely not.” I’m literally creating/formatting/writing this all on January 1st (aka the day I’m supposed to post this), so I’m already falling off the wagon a bit… but anyway, my month of December was actually quite nice. I got a bad cold toward the end of it (and felt terrible on Christmas :(), but other than that, I was very productive and happy!

– Joining A Discord Server & Making New Friends –

Since September, I’ve been following along with a social media content group called The North Star Boys, and they created a Discord server. There, fans (called “stars”) can meet each other and talk through voice channels and text channels. I happened to join a voice channel belonging to one of the boys, Oliver, and I met about ten other girls, and we talked for a few hours. Next thing I know, we’ve got a few Snapchat group chats, we follow each other’s social media accounts, and we talk nearly every day. Honestly, even though these girls are spread out across the U.S., I still feel so close to them, and they’re some of my good, close friends right now. I love these girls 🙂

– Friendsgivingmas –

My older sister, mom, and I decided that since we have a surplus of poultry (two whole turkeys and a chicken) in our freezer, we needed to host something to get rid of all this food. So, on December 11th, the afternoon/evening after a women’s Christmas brunch at our church, my sister, mom, and I finished making a ton of food and prepped everything for our guests. Our guests were about five friends from church and a few other friends. My best friend, Lydia, arrived at our house around 3:00 or 3:30, and she helped us get everything set up, and we hung out until everyone else arrived at around 5:30 or 6:00. The whole night ended up being really fun (one of my friends taught me the whipped-cream-on-the-hand-and-smack-it-into-your-mouth trick :)), and we played a fun game called Cards Christians Like, which was pretty much Apples to Apples for Christians, and that resulted in many laughs.

– Started Streaming –

I’ve been thinking about streaming for a while now. My older brother has been doing it for a long time now, and in light of the Minecraft SMP that I’m part of, I built a computer, bought equipment, and now I’m streaming! I have streamed a few times already, and it’s a little harder than I thought, but I enjoy it! I mainly stream video games like Minecraft, but I have ideas for many other games to try (and old games to reminisce over) on stream, so be sure to follow my Twitch so you can watch! You can also find the link at the bottom of this page under “You Can Also Find Me Here!”

– Book Progress –

My older sister shared the link to a writer’s workshop with me and listed A TON of literary agents. Although I couldn’t attend the actual workshop, I browsed the list of agents for any interested in sci-fi, and I found three! So, I’m continuing to rewrite my manuscript and have already added a few chapters (separating long chapters AND adding completely new content!) I hope to complete my manuscript by mid-January and send submissions to the agents I have in mind. However, I also found a list of nearly 700 agents, so if the first three decline, I’ll fall back on that list and see what I can do!

>> Books Read <<

Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson

  • fantasy, fiction
  • first time reading
  • I’ve been trying to read this book for months now… it’s a good book so far, I just find myself so busy with writing my own book and feeling like I’m wasting time if I stop to read or practice a hobby or something. I’ll finish this book soon, I promise.

>> Movies & TV Shows Watched <<

Jungle Cruise

  • Adventure, comedy, fantasy
  • First time watching
  • It was really good and actually pretty funny. It’s not one of my favorites, but I really did enjoy this movie.

Black Widow

  • Action, superhero, thriller
  • First time watching
  • This movie was so good! Again, not one of my favorites, but it really kept me interested and on the edge of my seat.

Austin & Ally (3 episodes)

  • Comedy, sitcom, Disney Channel original
  • First time watching
  • I’ve been watching this show off and on over the past many months, and I’ve enjoyed every episode I’ve watched so far (I’m on season 2 btw!)

Loki (1 episode)

  • Superhero, crime, fantasy
  • First time watching
  • I’ve only watched one episode so far, but it was so good! Loki is one of my favorite characters, which made me a little biased, but I love it so far!

Encanto

  • Musical, family, fantasy
  • First time watching
  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE! Not only were the songs super catchy (“We Don’t Talk About Bruno” amirite?) This movie was really funny, and I really enjoyed watching everyone’s powers and see the movie unfold!

Spider-Man: No Way Home

  • Action, comedy, superhero
  • First time watching
  • THIS MOVIE WAS SO GOOD! Spider-Man is my fav superhero, and I just absolutely adored this movie. It was really stressful, but I loved it.

The Amazing Spider-Man 1

  • Action, superhero, sci-fi
  • First time watching
  • I actually watched this with my family on New Year’s Eve. It was really good! Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man really brings to life the comedic, “sassy” part of Spider-Man with all the funny comments and asides during fights and such. It was really good!

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (not finished)

  • Action, superhero, sci-fi
  • First time watching
  • I haven’t finished this movie just yet, so I can’t give a proper rating, but I am really enjoying it so far! It’s got some romantic angst and such, and it’s hard to read some characters, which is making it really enjoyable so far!
