Parties, Planning, & Pictures // May 2025

, ,

Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely morning, afternoon, or evening! Looking back through my camera roll from this month, there were so many beautiful, lovely moments! There was so much planning, scheming, and other stuff like that, but yet rest and joy. I struggled at times with my mental state/thoughts, but they were quickly overcome by life and the promises of God. I truly loved May.

Adventures

Birthday Parties

There were around four birthdays that were celebrated this month! My brother-in-law had his annual Poker Party (although, my fiancè and I had to leave before any poker was played), my fiancè’s cousin had a birthday, then his son later this month, and we celebrated the May birthdays in my family! It was so wonderful to have so much family time—and it’s also great to have so many opportunities for free food!

Wedding Planning

We’re in the BIG stage of wedding planning now; contacting/confirming vendors, finalizing the guest list, assembling/sending out invitiations, etc. It’s been pretty hectic, and there are a million things to keep track of, but it’s a nice test for the future. You’ve got a partner to help you, and you’re figuring it all out together! We’ve got some good leads and starts for vendors as well as the invitations, so soon we’ll get to the fun things like dress shopping!

Engagement Photos

We got our engagement photos taken! We (mostly) took them around the neighboring venue to ours (still owned/run by the same folks), and it was such a fun time! There weren’t as many flowers blooming as we would have hoped, and the sky was rather overcast, but I think they turned out just fine! The trees were full, our photographer was fun, and I didn’t totally hate how my hair turned out despite my miscalculating when I needed to do it 🙃 I had to include some of my favorites in this post, so feel free to scroll down to the “Photographs” section to see our faves!

Keystone Safari

There’s a cute zoo that my fiancè and his family have gone to a few times, and this time I was able to join them! I had been to a similar place when I was much younger, but it was nice to experience this when I was actually competent and older! I got to feed a highland cow, a giraffe, and a llama, and we got to see two lions communicating back and forth to each other. It rained pretty hard at one point, and we had to take shelter under a little overhang, but it held off for the rest of our day! We got some barbecue afterward where I got a loaded baked potato (I had to take most of it home; it was HUGE)

Memorial Day

My family typically has a pretty busy Memorial Day. We had a little Pre-Memorial-Day cookout including some ultimate frisbee, Catchphrase, and chilling with my niece outside! On Memorial Day itself, I went with my family to a local business to watch the parade that my youngest sister was in. There, I got some food, hung out with my sister and her family, and collected A TON of candy. When we got home a few hours later, I chilled for a bit, then left to join my fiancè and his family at his uncle’s house. He had a pool and, despite it being rather breezy out, the water was actually warm! However, that did make getting out not so fun. It was such a lovely time, especially getting to meet and hangout with more of my fiancè’s family!

Quotes

“You’re standing on a planet with molten lava in the middle. Your heart is beating without you asking. There’s a moon in the sky and bugs that glow. This whole thing is absurdly beautiful. Don’t forget to notice.”

“…what doesn’t kill you doesn’t actually make you stronger, but healing does. And if you feel like healing hasn’t made you stronger than you were before, you’re probably not done healing. You’ve got to give these things tim to set.”
