Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely morning, afternoon, or evening! With the weather finally warming up again, I hope to spend as many mornings (and whole days) outside as possible. Starting your morning off outside can be especially good for you and shaping the rest of your day. These are just some of the benefits that I’ve noticed firsthand when I spend a good, quiet fifteen to twenty minutes outside.

Sunlight on The Eyes
When you get direct sunlight on your eyes first thing in the morning, it can help wake you up and balance out your circadian rhythm. My brother-in-law recommended a book that talks about how getting ten minutes of sunlight on your eyes can be as powerful as ten cups of coffee! Not to mention, the sun is one of the best—if not, the best—source of vitamin D, which can help you nutritionally as well as emotionally, making a great start to your day.
psst… there are multiple studies done on this topic, which I won’t link because that would just be a lot. But feel free to search it up and read it all for yourself!

Nature
I absolutely love being surrounded by nature, so this one is quite obvious to me. Being able to sit and listen to birds singing and looking at all the foliage and greenery is one of the best feelings. It’s relaxing and gentle for the senses, and such a refreshing and slow way to start the day. In fact, as I’m writing this, I’m outside on the patio enjoying the sounds and sights of nature!

Fresh Air
There’s nothing like fresh air. Honestly, I would argue to say that warm weather air has it’s own scent. It’s nostalgic to me as well as cosy and warm; I love it. Fresh air has so many benefits for the body, too, such as better mood, relaxation, and increase energy levels (which is great for the morning)

Just Existing
This is sort of a combination of the previous points. I love just simply existing and being mindful rather than thinking about what needs to be done that day, or being too in my head, or literally doing anything. Just exist in the moment and tune into your senses.

Sitting With God
This sort of negates the previous point… I enjoy praying while I sit outside in the morning. I often start off with just saying, “Good morning, God,” and thanking Him for a new day, praying for what’s ahead, and sometimes other people or things if they come to mind. I am trying to see God more and more in nature, and I like to think of this being just me and Him sitting together welcoming the day.

Do you get some outside time in your morning? What’s your favorite part about the mornings? If you have any other benefits you’ve noticed, leave them in the comments below! I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day or night. Keep on loving others and seeking the Lord!
