Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely morning, afternoon, or evening! New Year’s Eve is one of my favorite holidays, mostly because of the food (I’m a very food-motivated person) Better yet, my family has some pretty iconic snacks that we’ve had year after year. In fact, we have a “charcuterie table” rather than a charcuterie board since there are so many of us, and we have so much food. So, I figured why not highlight the numerous, delicious snacks we celebrate with!

Cocktail Weenies
My family goes through these so fast on NYE… mainly because of my youngest brother. They’re little hot dogs pretty much and we usually serve them with some sort of barbeque or cocktail sauce. You could also make “pigs in a blanket” with them, which is another one of my absolute favorite snacks!

Devilled Eggs
I actually just had devilled eggs at a Christmas function a few days ago, so I am even more passionate about these 😅 I’ve never made them before or been there for the process, so I have no idea how hard it is or how long it takes. However, they seem to be a common snack choice, so they can’t be that hard, right?? My family runs through about two trays of these FAST; they’re bound to be a hit!

Taco Salad
I’m not much of a taco person, but the rest of my family is and really seems to dig it! My mom usually makes this in a big corningware dish or a 9″ x 13″ pan.
🤎 🤎 🤎
INGREDIENTS:
1 lbs ground beef
1C sour cream
⅔C mayo
2T taco seasoning
8oz shredded cheddar
2C scallions; chopped
2C tomatoes; chopped
DIRECTIONS:
1. brown the ground beef and set aside
2. mix sour cream, mayo, and taco seasoning and spread on bottom of pan
3. sprinkle cheese over sour cream mixture
4. layer the beef, then scallions, then tomatoes
serve with tortilla chips

Portwine Cheese
This is my personal favorite. I’m pretty sure you can get this cheese anytime of the year, but growing up, we only ever had it on New Year’s Eve. You can get it from common stores like ALDI or Target, and my family usually gets it in a ball with the nuts around it. We also typically eat it on Ritz crackers!

Brie Cheese
I don’t like Brie cheese, but I know it’s popular for a lot of people. My mom usually prepares this in two ways: one with nuts and maple syrup, then one with just maple syrup. This is another one of those foods you can buy year-round, but it’s a NYE-only tradition for my family!
🌻 🌻 🌻
INGREDIENTS:
2 (8oz) wheels of Brie
⅓C real maple syrup
½C pecan halves
DIRECTIONS:
1. preheat oven to 350℉
2. place brie wheel in a small pan with sides
3. bake for 10 minutes until heathed through and soft (but not “runny”)
4. sprinkle pecans on top of one Brie wheel and pour maple syrup
5. bake another 5 minutes
serve with table water crackers

Chips & Salsa
Now, I won’t be sharing the recipe for this one, because it’s my dad’s homemade salsa 😅 Big emphasis on “homemade” here; canned tomato sauce, salsa, etc. absolutely pales in comparison to anything homemade. We eat my dad’s salsa year-round in many various recipes, but it’s such a hit that we include it for New Year’s Eve, too!

Assorted Dips
We have an ample amount of dips and such that we eat with crackers: hummus, sardine dip, olive dip, shrimp dip, and honey dijonaise. My personal favorite is the shrimp dip; I could eat that every day for the rest of my life. My parents make each of these dips, so, as I said before, homemade is the way to go. I have the recipe for the shrimp dip below!
☕ ☕ ☕
INGREDIENTS:
2 (5oz) cans of tiny shrimp
2C sour cream
¾C chili sauce
4t lemon juice
1T prepared horseradish
DIRECTIONS:
1. mix all ingredients well
serve with ritz or club crackers

Assorted Cheese Slices/Cubes
We have all these cheese typically sliced, but they work cubed as well, especially for kebabs! Some of the common choices cheddar, mozzarella, gouda, colby jack, pepperjack, and/or swiss. As you can see above, we like to get a little fancy with our cheese and cracker setup (all thanks to my older sister). But there is absolutely no shame if you eat the cheese right out of the packaging!

Assorted Crackers
Certain crackers go better with certain dips/cheeses/etc., so we always have an assortment to choose from! Our usual favorites are Ritz, Club, saltines, and table water. I’ve listed above which crackers we eat with each dip/side/cheese, but feel free to give them all a taste test and see which options become your new go-to’s!

What do you typically do for New Year’s Eve? Do you have any of the same snacks? If you have any other snack ideas, drop them in the comments below! I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day or night. Keep on loving others and seeking the Lord!
