New Beginnings, New Life, and Another Year // January 2024

,

Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely morning, afternoon, or evening! I don’t know about you, but January sped by! I audibly gasped at work the other day because I realized it was already the 27th. I had some big things happen this month, so perhaps that’s the reason. My word for January 2024 is “brand-new.”

– Got A New Job –

As you may have read in my “return post” (which you can read here), I had quite a time with employment last year. I unexpectedly quit my job of one year due to my mental health, and then I began working with my sister but had to quit that job because it was also terrible for my mental state. I then got a job at an early learning center, but soon, I found myself working overtime in a position I was not qualified/comfortable with, and I quit that job, too. Finally, in early January, I scored an interview with a really promising place. It’s a paint-your-own-pottery studio that also sells coffee, tea, etc. So it’s art, coffee, and people all in one place. I love it. I was worried for a while that I’d never be able to settle in one job or find the right one because of how my mental health was. But here I am, healing, but also in a comfortable, amazing job!

– Welcomed My Niece Into The World –

Early May 2023, I was the first person (aside from my brother-in-law) to learn about my older sister’s pregnancy. This was literally a day before my world came crashing down on me. Throughout my whole battle with my mental health, I used my incoming niece as a way to keep fighting. I had to meet her, she had to meet me, and I refused to be just a story or memory to her. I wanted to be there. January 16th, 2024, she was born, and I got to see her a few times as she recovered in the NICU, then held her for the first time about a week and a half later when she came home. I’m glad I fought to stay to meet her, and I am going to keep fighting until the battle is won so I can someday tell her how much she means to me and how special she is.

– Saw Some Live Shows –

A friend of mine has season tickets to the big “musical hub” in the city where I live, and he’s brought me along to many of them. This month, I saw “Girl From The North Country” and “My Fair Lady.” (Don’t ask me what “Girl From The North Country” is about; I still don’t know) I also saw The Tamburitzans, which was honestly one of the best things I’ve seen live. It was a little extra cool because one of my former co-workers was in it, but the dancing, music, and richness of culture were simply breathtaking. I’m such a sucker for live shows 😅😅

– 3rd Blogiversary –

On January 17th, I hit my three-year blogiversary! I began blogging in 2021 as a way to promote my writing (I thought I’d be published a lot sooner 😅), but it shortly turned into one of my favorite hobbies! I love having my own little corner of the internet to spread encouragement, joy, and the goodness of God. Also, designing websites is. So. Fun. I don’t care too much about numbers, how many email subscribers I have (it’s not like I send out email newsletters anyway, lol), or how many blog followers I have, or any of that; I just love getting on here, doing my thing, and creating a space of love, encouragement, and God. Thank you to everyone who’s been here the past years; here’s to many more!
