20 Nature-Inspired Names // Wednesday Whatevers

,

Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely morning, afternoon, or evening! As a writer who loves nature and loves planning ahead for when I have kids, I thought it’d be a fun idea to create a list of nature-inspired names! Now, these don’t have to just be used for characters; you could even name your pet goldfish one of these names.
For your convenience (and aesthetics), I’ve included a downloadable graphic for you to save to your device and check anytime. Enjoy!

P.S. I found all these name’s meanings on www.babynames.com, which is a great resource for parents, writers, and anyone else who wants to name anything (I don’t judge)

1 || Fiorella

Italian

“Little Flower”

NOTE: this is one of my personal favorites; you can even have a nickname be “Ella,” “Ellie,” or even “Fifi.”

2 || Brook / Brooke

English

“Small Stream”

NOTE: you can also use “Brooks” which means “From The Brook”

3 || Willow

English

“From The Willow Grove”

NOTE: this could also just refer to a willow tree as the meaning.

4 || Selene

Greek

“Moon”

5 || Briar

English

“Shrub; Small Tree”

6 || Fleur

French

“Flower”

7 || Violet / Violette

English

“Purple/Blue Flower”

8 || Isla

9 || Autumn

Latin

“Fall Season”

10 || Aspen / Aspyn

American

“Quaking Tree”

NOTE: there are no search results on http://www.babynames.com for “Aspyn,” but I find it to mean just the same thing as “Aspen” but with a different spelling.

11 || Alder

English

“Referring To The Alder Tree”

NOTE: I couldn’t find this on http://www.babynames.com, but I looked it up and, although it has a few origins and, therefore, meanings, I chose the origin/meaning that related to nature.

12 || River

English

“Stream Of Water That Flows To The Sea”

13 || Flint

English

“Flint Rock”

14 || Forest / Forrest

English

“Of The Woods” or “From The Woods”

16 || Sage / Saige

English

“Herb”

NOTE: there are no search results for “Saige,” but, again, I see it as just a different spelling of “Sage,” meaning the same thing.

17 || Rowan

English

“From The Rowan Tree”

18 || Clove

German

“Spice”

19 || Taryn

American

“Of The Earth”
