Dancing, Sliding, and Dating // February 2023

,

Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely morning, afternoon, or evening! February was quite nice. February was amazing, actually. A few times, my mental health took a fun little dive into the deep end, but overall, I feel positive about this month. From getting the hang of what routine works for me to starting a new relationship, this month went nicely. My word for February 2023 is “gratifying.”

– gratifying –

[ grat – ih – fahy – ihng ]

DEFINTION: tending to gratify; giving or causing satisfaction; pleasing.

– A Few Little Adventures –

I had quite a few little adventures spread throughout this month. I went to a thrift store with friends one Saturday morning, then to Target with my older sister that afternoon. At the thrift store, I bought many things, including a couple books, a ceramic fairy, some jeans, pretty porcelain dishes, and a few other random knick-knacks. At Target, I bought mostly food items but also two shirts, and my sister bought me some floral jeans. The next day, my older sister and I hosted a Jackbox Games night, and four of our friends attended, making it the perfect number to play! I have a picture of one of my favorite game results down below. Young Adult Bible Studies at my church started up again during the last half of this month, and that’s always a highlight of my week!

– Learning The Tarantella Napoletana –

So my siblings and I are 1/8 Italian. My great-grandfather came from Italy, so my grandfather is 1/2, my mom is 1/4, and so on. The Tarantella is a group of traditional southern Italian folk dances; each region of southern Italy has a different version/choreography. My family comes from Naples, so for my older sister’s wedding coming up, we decided to learn the Tarantella Napoletana. We originally recruited just the groomsmen and bridesmaids; however, we had one back out due to an injury, and my younger brother didn’t want to participate. So, my best friend, Sami, recruited her fiancè and I recruited my (recently “official”) boyfriend. We’ve practiced around five times, but we’ve got it down already!

– Skiing For The First Time –

A few of my friends decided to go to a local ski/snowboard slope area, and my older sister and I tagged along! It was my first time doing anything like that, so I had to buy some gear, but I also had to shake off a bit of fear and anxiety about it. Turns out I love it. I slipped up and fell less than I thought I would (mostly because I was trying to do a jump off a slight incline), and even then, I didn’t hurt myself too badly. The speed and going downhill were so thrilling, especially once I felt confident about my ability to control my skis. I would 10/10 do it again!

– Starting Something New –

Earlier this year, I had been crushing on a guy from my church in the young adults group. I tried talking to him more, getting to know him, and all that good stuff. Then, on Valentine’s Day itself, he called and asked me out! We’ve been on three dates so far that have been amazing. However, he is moving away come early March, so unfortunately, we won’t have many in-person dates (we’re doing long-distance), but the ones we have had have been among the highlights of this month!

P.S. we made it official after our second date, and so for privacy reasons, anytime I mention him on my blog, I will refer to him as my boyfriend and not by his real name. (So you guys are just gonna have to deal with a little bit of mystery 😉)

– A Bachelorette Party –

My older sister is getting married the first weekend in March, so my fellow maid-of-honor and best friend, Lydia, planned a bachelorette party for her! We kept it a surprise, but I think she figured it out pretty quickly; my family’s smart like that. My older sister, my younger sister, Briana, and I went over to Lydia’s house, then drove with her to an Italian restaurant where we met up with the other two bridesmaids. We had a good, hearty meal, then went back to Lydia’s house for some mini-games, presents, and cake, then finished the night off with Encanto! It was a great time to celebrate my sister and her upcoming marriage; you’ll just have to hear about the wedding in next month’s recap!
