Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely morning, afternoon, or evening! January was everywhere. I rethought my way of life and fought to change and adapt it to how I wanted to live. However, it’s hard, and I fell short many times. From starting to journal every night and reflecting on my day to hanging out with people more, my month felt like a big step in a good direction. My word for January 2023 is “improve.”
– improve –
[ ihm – proov ]
DEFINITION: to bring into a more desirable or excellent condition.

– Sunday Family Meals –
Since more and more of my siblings are moved out (or soon will move out), my mom wanted to start hosting family meals every Sunday. We alternate between supper and brunch, so one week we do breakfast foods, the next we do dinner foods, and so on. A few times already, we’ve invited friends or fellow church folks to eat with us, and it’s been great. My favorite meal so far has been pancakes!
– All-You-Can-Eat Steakhouse –
Every now and then, my friend group goes to an all-you-can-eat steakhouse called Fogo de Chão. This was my first time going. We went to the salad bar first, and I tried eggplant for the first time (it was really good!) Then, they began bringing out giant chunks of meat on swords. Well, not swords, but they were very long and sharp skewer things. I don’t remember each individual meat (meat just tastes like meat to me, I don’t know), but there was lamb, sirloin, filet mignon, and some other fancy ones. It was overall a very fun experience, especially when my best friend, Lydia, and I explored the fancy bathroom!
– Escape Room –
Most of the groomsmen and bridesmaids for my sister’s wedding already know each other. However, my sister still wanted to have everyone do something together because there were a few outliers, so she decided to get dinner with everyone and then do an escape room! We split into two groups, five in one room and five in the other. I was with two of my guy friends, my older sister and my little sister. We started out handcuffed, took ten minutes to free ourselves, then eventually escaped the room with about five minutes to spare. It was a great time. I just love escape rooms.
– Braces Off? –
Will they ever be off? Yes! But… not until April 25th… Yeah. I was delayed a bit back in December because a loose bracket caused my bottom tooth to shift. The earliest I can have them off is March 9th, however there are no available appointments until the end of April. So, I’ll have my braces on for my sister’s wedding, but I’ll get pity points, and the world has extra time to prepare for my mega awesome epic “glow-up.”
– Bridal Shower –
My fellow maid-of-honor, Lydia, and I planned and hosted my older sister’s bridal shower. I have only been to one bridal shower, so I was very glad to have a bunch of extra help. We made the theme a Vintage Tea Party and used a ton of my mom’s vintage decor as well as some of her beautiful tea cups, to make the centerpieces. It took us about two-ish months, and it was super scary, but my older sister seemed to enjoy it, so that’s all that matters!

How Can I Pray For You In February?
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 ESV
