A False Alarm, A Celebration, and A Plan // November 2022

,

Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely morning, afternoon, or evening! November was pretty uppy-downy. I had a few rough patches with my mental health and a handful of breakdowns concerning what on earth I’m gonna do with my life (love that for me), but I also had quite a few fun events with friends and generally felt good about myself and my life. From failing my driver’s test the first time to a spontaneous trip to the zoo, my month was pretty everywhere. My word for November 2022 is “spotty.”

– spotty –

[ spah – tee ]

– Driving… Stuff –

This month I made some major headway with my driver’s license. I drove on the road for the first time (and finally hit 35mph). This whole getting-my-driver’s-license process has taken forever because of a shoulder injury back in late 2020 and surgery in early 2021, and I wasn’t allowed to drive for months. I also dealt with a lot of trauma and anxiety from a car crash in August of this year. But finally, I scheduled my driver’s test! But then, I failed… It was a few minor things, but that didn’t stop me from feeling more frustrated with myself than I could put into words. I’m still a little miffed, but I quickly rescheduled another appointment and… then I left my permit at home, and we learned that the car’s inspection and emission dates were expired, and we couldn’t take the test. They gave me a new permit with a new expiration date, so now, I have a lot more time to practice and get more comfortable behind the wheel before I take my test.

– I Almost Got My Braces Off –

Yeah… That was probably one of the most disappointing things from this month. I heard some hints that my younger sister, Briana, and I would get our braces off early this month, but when we actually went in for our appointments, that was not the case at all. Briana is getting her braces off at the beginning of February, and I… don’t know about me, unfortunately. Apparently, a bracket on one of my bottom front teeth had shifted, so they had to put on a new bracket during my recent appointment. My next appointment is in late January, and from there, well, I have no idea when I’ll get my braces off at this point. I’m just really hoping it’s before my older sister’s wedding in early March…

– My Sister Turned 21 –

Speaking of my older sister, she turned twenty-one this month! Because of that, her fiancè hosted a get-together at his (and his roommates’) house. Around fourteen folks from our young adults group showed up, so it was quite the ordeal. Everyone brought food and/or various alcoholic drinks for my sister to try. I made a salad and wanted to get apple juice for my best friend, Lydia, and me since we’re under 21, but… that fell through, unfortunately. We had dinner, mingled, and watched Princess Bride (well, I watched most of it) while some other folks played games in another room, and it was overall a great time. I ended the night trying to cry on command alongside some other friends, but none of us were successful. I also ate cake out of a cup by squeezing it up like a push-pop, but that was kinda messy and just… very inefficient; however, my friends got a kick out of it, apparently. Now I just gotta wait two more years for my 21st birthday bash 😂

– Alumni Breakfast At My Alma Mater –

My former school has hosted an alumni Thanksgiving breakfast for a few years. This year was my first time being an alumnus since I only graduated in 2021. I met up with most of my fellow graduates, and it was great to catch up with them again and talk. For breakfast, they served a bunch of danishes, muffins, scones, and such, but I’m gluten-free, so I just opted for the hot chocolate and piled whipped cream and marshmallows on it. After breakfast, we watched a slideshow of pictures of all of us when we were students (the sophomore year’s bangs phase made a sudden and frightening appearance…), and then we all introduced ourselves to the current high schoolers, talked about what we were doing now, and our favorite memories from each musical. It was overall a great time catching up with fellow graduates and former teachers.

– Bridal Shower Planning With My Best Friend –

My older sister is getting married! My best friend, Lydia, and I are the Maids of Honor, so we are (mostly) in charge of planning her bridal shower, bachelorette, and so on. Now, I’m not gonna talk too much about it since my sister may read my blog, but we’ve started the planning process this month, and I couldn’t be more excited! Pinterest is my new best friend, I can’t wait to decorate everything, and it’s all just going to be so great. I’m so excited!
p.s. I will be sure to post pictures of it when it all happens 🙂

– Thanksgiving –

We had Thanksgiving at my family’s house this year, and my older brother came over, as well as my older sister’s fiancè. We played a bit of Big Boggle before we ate, which is just like normal Boggle except it’s 5×5 instead of 4×4. Since around ten of us played, nobody got any big scores; we all cancelled each other out. I ate until I was pretty much sick and tired, and then I ate a little more. I ended the night full and with the biggest food coma I think I’ve ever had 😅

Enola Holmes 2

  • mystery, action, adventure
  • first-time watching
  • MY REVIEW: I literally love these movies. The first movie was amazing, and this second one was as good or even better despite sequels typically getting a bad rep. I love watching the mystery and plot come together, the dynamics in the Holmes family, and Enola’s little moments where she breaks the fourth wall. Millie Bobby Brown just kills it as Enola, TBH. I have to give this movie a 10/10!

The Princess Bride

  • romance, comedy, fantasy
  • I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this movie.
  • MY REVIEW: This movie is timeless. I’ve seen it countless times, but it still gets me laughing every time. A great movie for all ages and in every circumstance. I give this movie a 9/10!

Airplane!

  • comedy, parody, disaster
  • first-time watching
  • MY REVIEW: I did not really like this movie. It had a few good lines, sure, but it also had many unnecessary, inappropriate parts, and some of the jokes made in this movie were horrid and so not okay. I give it a 1/10.
