A New Language, A Rare Moon, and A Big Step // May 2022

,

Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely morning, afternoon, or evening! This month had either really good moments or really bad moments. I found myself in some pretty bad mindsets, but I also found myself enjoying life to a pretty high degree other times. Although, I suppose that’s better than having all bad moments! To sum it up, my word for May 2022 would be “sporadic.”

– Sporadic –

[ spuhrad-ik ]

DEFINITION: (of similar things or occurrences) appearing or happening at irregular intervals in time; occasional:

– Created A Language –

I created a language! More or less… For my book, The Star of Juino, I created two languages, one written, the other written and spoken. The written one is called Owehri and was based on Elder Futhark runes. The written/spoken one is based on a few different languages and such (and is still kind of a work-in-progress). It’s called Feisarian and is based on parts of Italian, American Sign Language (ASL), and German. Feisarian pronunciation, certain word structure, and conjugation is based on Italian, the ASL comes into play with sentence structure, and “compound word structure,” I guess, is based on German. For instance, “flower” is mori, “big” is sol, and “tree” is solmori, a.k.a. “big flower.” It’s been pretty fun, but also just plain frustrating sometimes to have to create an entire dictionary…

– Saw A Full/Blood Moon and A Lunar Eclipse –

I was chilling late at night, procrastinating going to bed, when suddenly, one of my friends said to go look at the moon in our friend-group-Discord-server thing (?). Naturally, I went outside to try and look at the sky, but it was all cloudy out. I’m scared of the dark, so I didn’t want to wander around too much, but I waited around and ended up just lying on the sidewalk in front of our house, looking up at the sky. I got a pretty neat picture of one of the dippers, and then I was able to see the moon! It was apparently a full moon, a blood moon, and there would be a Lunar Eclipse; a whole ton of things happening at once! According to my sister, nothing would happen like this for another hundred or thousand years, so it was pretty unique!

– Applied For A New Job (or two) –

I found the perfect word for how I’m feeling after working at the same place for three years… “ennui.” It’s French and (according to Dictionary.com) means “a feeling of utter weariness and discontent resulting from satiety or lack of interest; boredom:” What a great feeling to be experiencing almost every day! Needless to say, I hate it, I hate feeling that way, and I hate feeling like there’s nothing special about all this. On Sunday, May 22nd or Monday, May 23rd (I don’t remember), I applied for a job at a bookstore, and Tuesday, May 31st, I submitted a form to be an extra in a tv show filming in my town! (It’s from end-of-June until October, is starring Jeremy Renner, and pays $175/12 hours!!) I have yet to hear back from either of these opportunities, but I’m hoping/praying for the best because, if I’ll be honest, I’m just tired, bro.

>> Movies and TV Shows Watched <<

Soul Surfer (not finished)

  • action, sports, drama
  • first-time watching
  • I haven’t watched the full movie yet, but it’s pretty good so far. I am kinda familiar with the story of Bethany Hamilton, and AnnaSophia Robb did a splendid job of portraying her. I’m excited to watch the rest; I just have to find the time.

Tinker Bell and the Pirate Fairy

  • fantasy, adventure, animated
  • second- or third-time watching
  • I’ve watched this movie a few times now, and honestly, it’s still good. Yeah, it’s a children’s movie, but we all need to entertain our inner child every now and then, y’know? My younger sister, Briana, and I were watching this together, and that’s always a blast, honestly. I really enjoyed it!

Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones

  • action, romance, science fiction
  • second-time watching
  • So, I began watching Obi-Wan, but the intro made me want to rewatch episodes 2 and 3. I first watched this when I wasn’t even a teenager and definitely needed a little recap, and the plot actually made sense to me. I could actually see and understand the plot unfolding and how things played out. I’m definitely falling rapidly into the Star Wars fandom, let me just say.

Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith

  • action, science fiction, adventure
  • second-time watching
  • Okay, I watched this movie once, and I literally didn’t remember anything from that. I felt like I was watching this for the first time ever. It was literally so good, though. Heart-wrenching for sure, and I definitely cried a bit at the end, but it’s literally so good. I love Star Wars now.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

  • action, adventure, science fiction
  • first-time watching
  • I wanted to start watching this because I wanted to get back into Star Wars. I’ve only watched Part 1 so far and hope to watch Part 2 soon, but I love it already. I like how they’re expanding on Obi-Wan’s character and his development because, honestly, I feel like he’s really underrated. I love it so far.

>> Books Read <<

Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery (chapter 1)

  • Novel, children’s literature, fiction
  • first-time reading
  • I saw the tv adaptation of Anne of Green Gables (the Megan Follows one) years ago, and by now, I am pretty familiar with the storyline, but I wanted to start reading more (classics, specifically). I love Anne Shirley; she’s just such an iconic and great character, and, although I’m only a chapter or two in, I just love this story already. I’m excited to keep reading!

The Mystery of The Silver Spider by Robert Arthur (chapters 1-3)

  • mystery, fiction, adventure
  • first-time reading
  • I’m a sucker for mystery books and randomly felt like reading this book because it was just sitting on my bookshelf. I like it so far and got farther into it than Anne of Green Gables, but I’m not sure if I’ll read more or when I’ll read more. I’m trying to just take it easy and slowly get back into reading rather than slam myself with a whole ton of books, y’know?
