Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely morning, afternoon, or evening! Since I already made a “top five favorite movies” post, I figured, hey, why don’t I make one for books, too? So, here we are! I’m definitely not as much of a book-reader as I am a movie-watcher, so this list is a bit easier. However, I’m trying very hard to get back into reading, so who knows? Perhaps this list will grow and change in the near future! We’ll just have to see. But, in the meantime, enjoy!
P.S. These aren’t in any specific order; it’s just a simple list!
>> The Mark of Athena <<

Genre: YA fiction, fantasy, adventure
Author: Rick Riordan
Times I’ve Read This Book: I don’t even know
MY REVIEW: LOVE THIS! It’s part of my favorite book series, The Heroes of Olympus, and I just love it. It’s when the seven main characters of the big prophecy first get all together and it’s full of all these little side missions that they go on. It’s a nice calm-before-the-storm sort of book and it ends with a cliff-hanger (literally, if y’know what I mean) and I just love it. I’m a huge fan of Rick Riordan’s books and this is just wonderful.
>> The Rithmatist <<

Genre: fantasy, fiction
Author: Brandon Sanderson
Times I’ve Read This Book: 1
MY REVIEW: A friend recommended this author to me, and this is my favorite book of his so far! It’s a really cool concept, chalk having all these magical abilities and such, and it had a few plot twists which were also really cool and exciting. It also had a bunch of graphics and charts about various chalk drawings, meanings, descriptions and such, and I thought they were a) just really cool and expansive, but also b) super helpful to a visual learner such as me.
>> Camp Half-Blood Confidential <<

Genre: adventure, fantasy, fiction
Author: Rick Riordan
Times I’ve Read This Book: 1
MY REVIEW: Again, as a huge fan of Rick Riordan’s books, I love this little guide to Camp Half-Blood (a.k.a. one of the main, reoccuring places in some of his series), I also loved how there were tons of graphics of the places as well as little side stories and a huge variety of ways to learn about Camp Half-Blood. I just love it.
>> Storm Runner <<

Genre: fiction, fantasy
Author: J.C. Cervantes
Times I’ve Read This Book: 1
MY REVIEW: I learned about this book through Rick Riordan (Riordan Presents) and I love it! I’m a sucker for mythology and this book focuses around Mayan mythology, which is something I never learned too much about. I believe the movie, The Road to El Dorado has some Mayan mythology in it and mentions some people/places/whatever and after reading this book, I was like, “oh, wait! I know what that is!” I really loved this book; a great meld between mythology and learning as well as humor and an entertaining story.
>> Flourish: Live Free, Live Loved <<

Genre: Christian, devotional
Author: Margaret Feinberg
Times I’ve Read This Book: 1 (still reading)
MY REVIEW: I’m a huge fantasy/fiction reader, BUT I’m trying to get into more self-help/devotional books. Because, well, I need some help, if you ask me. I’ve especially been trying to get into reading devotionals, praying, and really delving into the Word and I’ve been loving this devotional. I got it from Barnes and Noble a while ago and just started really reading it recently. It’s a once-a-week devotional, but I read it every day, which works just fine as well. I really love this deovtional because the author mentions somethings that I’ve always worried about or done or think about which really helps me not feel so alone, but also offers some help and encouragement surrounding that problem or habit or whatever. Also, not to mention, the little coloring pages are great and there’s always a short little prayer at the end of each reading which I also love. I would definitely recommend this book!
There you go! I hope you enjoyed reading about my favorite books. Feel free to let me know what your fav books are in the comments below! (as well as some recommendations and tips on how to get reading again, lol) I wish you a wonderful rest of your day or night. Keep on inspiring others and loving yourself!
