Weekly Recap 4.18.21 – 4.24.21

,

Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely morning/afternoon/evening! Overall, this week was pretty chaotic, but it ended on a bittersweet note. I’m not sure what I’ll do next week or even know what to do with myself.

On Sunday, I had church, and afterward, I signed up for this year’s Fairmont mission trip (you can read about this past year’s trip here!), and it got me VERY excited for this upcoming trip! When I got home, I did some blog work and later went driving with my mom, where I learned how to fill up gas. I watched some YouTube for a while then decided to bake some muffins. They were delicious btw, for all who are wondering.

On Monday, one of my friends and fellow seniors came back to school! She was doing virtual schooling due to health reasons this year, but she got the vaccine and can do in-person school now. Woohoo! Throughout the day, I did a lot of creative work and blog work. I had a little extra time to do so because my first-period class was a study hall. That afternoon, my school’s musical cast did a little meet n greet again since we missed two kids the first time. At one point during the school day, some of my classmates had balloons (from where? I have no clue), and my friend tied his balloon to the divider in between our table. That night, we had our first tech week rehearsal, which was overall pretty exhausting, but what’s new?

Tuesday was pretty fun. I held a student council meeting which was surprisingly enjoyable and even had an impromptu mini-meeting with a few of my classmates afterward. We’re planning an all-nighter for the high school, and those meetings got me VERY excited about it. During fifth period, we were reading Macbeth and one of my classmates read Lady Macbeth’s parts in a high voice with a very enthusiastic tone. I did some blog work and only got a single paragraph written in my WIP. That night, we had another tech rehearsal, and my younger sister, Briana, did my makeup. Fun fact: I kinda liked it better than when my older sister, Emma, did it… Anyway, at rehearsal, I NAILED my fast costume changes and even managed to have some fun backstage and in the dressing room.

On Wednesday, my co-star and I went to my school’s preschool campus and greeted the preschoolers as they came in that morning. I don’t think we made eye contact with more than half of those kids… When I got back to school, it was about halfway into first period, and for the rest of the day, I worked on my WIP and wrote my FAVORITE part in the entire book! When I got home, I had some extra time to chill since we weren’t doing costumes or makeup that day.

On Thursday, I held another student council meeting that was pretty chaotic and probably worsened because my brain was fried from tech week. Despite that, school was overall pretty chill this week due to tech week. When I got home, I tried curling my hair for the first time, but it didn’t really go well, obviously, because I had no clue what I was doing. It worked good enough, though! That night was our last dress rehearsal, and I NAILED my fast costume changes AGAIN!! I even talked with a few friends here and there through the chaos, which was really nice.

I have nothing written down or tracked for Friday, so I guess that goes to show how chaotic it was… I’ve been using that word to describe a majority of this week. I remember most of the cast left early that day to get some extra rest before opening night, and I ended up losing track of time and taking an hour-long shower or so. I tried curling my hair again, and it turned out better this time. Once I got to school, got dressed in my first costume, and prepared everything, I joined the rest of the cast in our music room. One of my teachers (who pretty much runs the stage crew) said a little speech and led us in prayer before the show. I ended up crying and received many hugs due to my tears. Thankfully, I was able to shape up before I went to perform. During the overture, my little brother and I danced to the music backstage, which was really fun and a good way to eliminate any nervousness. After the show, I talked to my grandparents and aunt, who had come to see the show, as well as my older brother and his girlfriend. It was definitely odd getting a ton of compliments because I’m used to being in smaller roles, but it also felt amazing to be recognized.

I filmed on Saturday! Saturday, we had two shows, and we hung out at our school in between the matinee and evening show. Due to the long day, I decided to film it! I’ll be making a separate post that goes into more detail, but I’ll give you all a short recap for the sake of this weekly recap post. I had TONS of fun and had a great time during the last shows. This was my senior year, so I cried, but I got many nice hugs and warm congratulations. I began to cry before the show even started, but, again, I was able to compose myself before going onstage. When I got home, I cried even more but eventually shaped up, watched some fun videos, and went to bed.

That concludes my week! I hope you all had splendid weeks as well; feel free to share some highlights of your own in the comments below! I pray we all have lovely weeks ahead of us and that we find something magical in every day. As always, keep on inspiring folks and loving yourself!
