February is Fantasy Month – A Fantasy Linkup

Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely morning/afternoon/evening! This month of February (albeit late), I will be taking part in a fun linkup/challenge/event hosted by Jenelle Schmidt! It is called February is Fantasy Month, and, in this ‘surprise’ post, I’ll be answering some questions/prompts that Jenelle created!

You can click here to visit her original post, if you’d like!

Questions!

1 || What was the first fandom you fell into?

Narnia. The beautiful, wonderful, delightful Chronicles of Narnia. I’d be lying if I told you those books didn’t shape who I am today. For a while at my school, we were given a Narnia book every Christmas, and we would read it in class. I not only read the books, but I also saw the movies and absolutely fell in love. That story, those books, the films, they were the beginning of my mad love for adventure, fantasy, and ‘magic.’ I was an avid fantasy enthusiast in middle school (I still am), and I wrote about something fantasy-related during every journal prompt we had to write. (I suppose I could show you some in a future post…) Long story short, it was Narnia, back when I was ten or eleven, and it still remains as one of the most precious influences on my life.

Come on, just tell me these pictures don’t spark happiness in you…

2 || What was the most recent fandom you became a part of?

I’m honestly not too sure. I haven’t gotten a lot of time recently to explore more books. Perhaps with my surgery recovery period, I might get some books read! If you have suggestions or ideas, let me know!

3 || Star Wars or Star Trek?

Star Wars… mainly because I’ve never seen Star Trek. I’ve never been one for sci-fi (weirdly enough, my WIP is sci-fi), so I’m not even that HUGE of a fan of Star Wars. I enjoy the movies, I’d go to Galaxy’s Edge if given a chance, but all the lore and complicated backstories and connections confuse me.

4 || Marvel or DC?

Definitely Marvel. I once watched a DC film (Aquaman, circa 2018), and I just wasn’t a fan of it. I’m simply more familiar with the Marvel superheroes and enjoy the movies more. Maybe watching more DC movies will sway my opinion, but for right now, I’m a Marvel fan through and through. Also, not to mention SpiderMan is my favorite superhero, so…

5 || What is a fandom you love enough to want to live in that world?

Narnia! I mean, have you seen the place? It’s beautiful. I just feel like the minute you step into Narnia, your worries just wash away, and you feel absolute peace. Y’know, Middle Earth might be up there as well. I love the medieval/fantasy aspects of that universe as well. I guess I’m a sucker for nature and fancy dresses.

But let’s be real, I mean, who isn’t?

6 || If you could hang out with a character from one of your fandoms, who would it be and why?

Leo Valdez and/or Piper McLean, both from The Heroes of Olympus series (a.k.a. my favorite book series). I naturally tend to get along better with guys, and Leo just seems like he would be such a fun guy to hang around and be friends with. Also, he’s hilarious. Now with Piper, she just seems like a gal. She just has this certain vibe to her. She’s been my favorite character from HoO for a long time now, and I can’t put my finger on it; I just love her.

Fan art of Leo by Viria, I believe
This art of Piper is also by Viria

7 || Unknown fandom? (something you love but nobody else seems to have heard of)

For a while, I really enjoyed the Magisterium series. My sister got me into it and read the first two books, I believe. I didn’t ever see anything about it, and I didn’t own the next books, so I kind of fell away from it. I might give it another try, however. Maybe I’ll even make a few reviews on the book series… we’ll have to see.

I hope you all enjoyed, and make sure to check out Jenelle’s original post where you can also check out others’ posts who took part in this linkup! Remember, keep on inspiring folks and loving yourself!

Narnia is the best! *nods* It was one of my earliest fandoms, as well… that I never really grew out of. I’m enjoying re-reading the series with my hobbits.

Ooh, I haven’t heard of Magistereum before. I’ll have to look into those! Thanks for the recommendation!
