This week was pretty eventful, and it was really exciting! We had “Lutheran School’s Week” at my school, so we had different themed days throughout the week, which added some ・゚✧spice・゚✧ to school life. I don’t think there are any photos of me in my various outfits, but I’ll at least explain my wardrobe for the week 🙂
On Monday, we had mismatch day! I wore a plaid button-down (dress code, how exciting) with a striped sweater on top with black pants, mismatched mid-calf winter-themed socks, and high tops. Oh, I forgot, I was also wearing a hoop earring in one ear and a dangly earring in the other, as well as mismatched rings on my hands. Unfortunately, I had to take off my jewelry and change a bit of my outfit when I went to the hospital for my MRI… yup, after three months of wearing a sling on/off and dealing with a hurt shoulder, I finally got it checked out. I had to get dye injected into my shoulder, and that was probably the worst thing I’ve ever felt. It was so uncomfortable that it was painful if that makes sense. We were at the hospital for a total of about three and a half hours; my MRI was about 45-50 minutes of it. They didn’t have Barbie DVDs in their selection, so I had to settle for Iron Man, much to my dismay, but it wasn’t terrible, I suppose.
On Tuesday was pajama day! My schoolmates and I have been fighting for pajama day for years, I believe, and we finally got it! I just wore some black PJ pants with one of my favorite sweatshirts. In the afternoon, the high schoolers played volleyball against the teachers! The teachers have never been beaten, but I missed some of the other classes’ games, so maybe they could finally win against the teachers. I played with my fellow seniors and then went off to my voice lessons, which made me very happy. At work, two of my friends were putting little ice cubes in the hood of my hoodie while I was on the headset, resulting in my hood being slightly damp even when I got home that night. One of those friends tossed some ice at me that went down my shirt, making me even colder in the drive-thru. Maybe I need better friends…
Wednesday was color day, and my class was wearing blue. I didn’t have much blue, so I only wore a blue t-shirt and some blue scrunchies. It was cool seeing all the other classes in monochrome outfits and seeing all the colors. During one of my study halls, two of my friends were ‘serenading’ me with ‘For The Longest Time’ in falsetto/Mickey Mouse voices, which was an interesting experience. However, while they were singing, I was able to get some blog work done and write more in my WIP! That night, my sisters and I watched some more of Umbrella Academy on Netflix, which is a show we’ve been watching for the past few months. My younger sister and I have never seen it before, and I guess it’s a pretty good show. It has some gore, but I just close my eyes until my sisters say it’s okay to open them again.
On Thursday was school spirit day! I wore my school t-shirt as well as a blue scrunchie, I believe. We had a school-wide Knowledge Bowl over Kahoot, which is a big trivia game about the teachers and their classrooms. Due to COVID, the teachers had to make some changes to the game, which resulted in everyone being by themselves rather than with a team. My name was GladLobster (gotta love the generated names), and I ended up winning against 80 or so other people! I can’t do math or science to save my life, but I’m pretty good at trivia and guessing. Earlier that day, I forgot about a Student Council lunch meeting that I scheduled, so that was pretty embarrassing… way to go, Miss President. After school, my mom came back to me with the results of my MRI… I tore some cartilage in my shoulder, specifically the labrum. The orthopaedist would call my mother about the different options within the next few days or so.
On Friday, we had crazy hat/hair day! I didn’t want to do anything super crazy to my hair, so I just made a pretty hairstyle with some golden butterfly clips. On the way to work, my father told me that I would most likely be getting surgery on my shoulder to fix it. How fun. Honestly, I would prefer surgery to therapy; surgery seems quicker and more of a definite fix. It would result in a 4-6 week recovery stage, which means I’d be out of work for about a month to a month and a half. Again, how fun. On the bright side, I would have downtime to relax, catch up on shows/movies, and work on my WIP. I’m not sure when the surgery will be because our spring musical is starting up again, and I’m kind of the lead, so it wouldn’t be too good if I missed too many practices. That night at work, one of my friends was playing the game Word Cookies, which I was OBSESSED with for a few good months a while back. I was able to answer some of the levels he was stuck on, and I felt pretty smart. I guess I’m good with words. Although, I unscrambled the word ‘gin’ at one point, and so he, along with another friend, was teasing me about knowing what that word means. For those of you who don’t know, it’s an alcoholic drink. After work, my sisters and I watched Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses (a fantastic movie, by the way. 10/10 would recommend), and we finished at around one in the morning. We wanted to watch Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus next, but I got too tired and only watched the first fifteen minutes or so. I’m some odd mix between a night owl and a morning person. I’ve only done one intentional ‘all-nighter,’ and I only stayed up until four in the morning.
Saturday started with my first morning shift in a while. I worked 11-5, so I hopped straight into a long one. It was pretty uneventful besides a few friendly interactions here and there. I did decide, however, that I wanted to get the surgery done ASAP. Working with a sling and one arm is painful, annoying, and abhorrent. After work that day, for the first time in Callie history, I completed my to-do list! Yeah, it took me about seven hours to complete it, but I did it, and that’s what matters. Sometimes you have to give yourself extra time and be patient with yourself. So yeah, it took me forever, but I completed it, and that made me happy.
And that was my week! You may notice that Sunday (today) is missing, but I’ve decided to change the dates of my weekly recaps. I’ll be writing about the week on the following Sunday if that makes sense. So today will be included in next week’s recap. Anyway, I hope you all had a wonderful week, and I hope you have an even better one this week! Keep on inspiring folks and loving yourself!
Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
